Danielle Windus-Cook

Danielle Windus-Cook has served on the Sweden Town Board for eight years and is seeking her third term. Prior to her tenure on the Town Board, she served for six years on the Village of Brockport’s Zoning Board of Appeals.

A life-long resident of the community, Danielle owns DWC Properties, a full-service realty company with its headquarters in downtown Brockport. She is very active in the Lakeside Twig Association and the Lakeside Hospital Gala Committee. She has chaired many successful funding raising events for her Twig over a 22-year period, with all of the proceeds benefiting Lakeside Health System. Danielle also serves on the Seymour Library After Hours Committee helping to coordinate the library’s premier fundraiser.

During her current tenure, Danielle has focused much of her energy on the preservation of buildings at Lakeview Cemetery, the creation of the Sweden Farmers Museum and the development of the Sweden Harvest Festival. Danielle has secured both private and state funding to help restore the mausoleum, barn and former caretaker’s house at the cemetery. The barn and the house will serve dual purposes because of Danielle’s vision – as functional parts of cemetery operations and as a place to honor Sweden’s agricultural history. Thanks to Danielle’s perseverance, Lakeview Cemetery will be named to the National Registry of Historic Places this fall.

Danielle has been heavily involved in the development of facilities at the Town Park. She has advocated for non-traditional sports and activities to have a niche at the park. In fact, the skate park is recognized as the nicest facility in this area. She has been working on a plan to place a kayak/canoe launch at the Sweden Senior Center. In addition, Danielle has taken an active role in updates to the Sweden Town Code.

As a realtor in our community, Danielle is acutely aware of the need to keep Town property taxes low and property values accurately assessed. She believes that growth is important, but needs to be thoroughly and intelligently planned.

Danielle resides in the Village of Brockport with her son, JW, who is a freshman at Brockport High School.
